Man dies a week after being run over by truck

Scott Limbeck, the 24-year-old Omaha man who was run over by a pickup truck outside a midtown Omaha housewarming party Jan. 31, died from his injuries Sunday night, police said.

• Police seek motive for fatal shooting at bowling alley

  Police Sunday were investigating the Saturday night slaying of a 19-year-old Omaha man outside a bowling alley at 1313 N. 48th Ave.

• Fliers seek leads on missing family

  Volunteers on Sunday distributed nearly 1,000 informational fliers at churches and stores and to south Omaha residents to try and spark new leads on the missing Szczepanik family.

I was a little sad as I checked Facebook on Friday morning. I glanced through the posts – only half reading some of them – and was stopped dead in my tracks when I saw one name: J.D. Salinger.

• Chamber Connection: FISH!

  On a visit to Seattle, a man named John Christensen from Minnesota noticed how animated and happy the employees at Seattle’s Pike Place Fish Market were in their work. They were literally putting on a show by flinging fish to each other, inciting jokes and laughter and often inviting the customers to join in on the interaction and fish catching (sometimes missing). The Pike Place employees were having a good time, paying attention to their customers, and ensuring that everyone around had an enjoyable visit. Christensen realized that not only were the workers making a routine job fun for themselves and their customers, they were also selling a lot of fish.
