New pastor moves in

The Rev. J. Samuel Subramanian, PhD, may be considered a world traveler, but has lately declared the Woodbine United Methodist Church and Harrison County,  as home.

• House on Tower Road a total loss in July 22 fire

  The house at 302 North Tower Road, owned by Vicki Foreman, was completely gutted in a fire July 22.

• Council sends letters to residents to license pets

  Letters will soon be on their way to residents who have not licensed their animals, city administrator Nedra Fliehe reported at the July 19 council meeting.

After the first four events of the women’s heptathlon, Alex Gochenour had a sunny and positive outlook despite the relatively miserable conditions throughout the day.

Nik’s Knacks: Okoboji! Okoboji! Okoboji!

You all must be sick of hearing about it by now. I’ve written about my family vacation in Okoboji every year for the past four years or so. It’s even gotten to a point where people that drop by the office ask, “Don’t you leave for Okoboji soon?”

• Chamber Connection: What were you thinking?

  What were you thinking? If I had a nickel for every time my dad said that to me! Wish I had a nickel for my same, sad response each time … a shrug of the shoulders and an, “I don’t know.”
